Montana Cox, with her new ice blond ‘do, and Jessica Gomes in all her pouty glory sashayed down the runway to an intoxicating mix of pumping music and swirling lights with a number of Australia’s Next Top Model alumni.

The catwalk was under the watchful eye of fashion matriarch Megan Gale, who won best accessory for her baby bump, and a slick looking Rachel Finch.

Crowds ranged from mere mortals to some of the industries’ heavy-hitters.

The uniform of the day appeared to black in any format – it is Melbourne after all – paired with a vertigo-inducing pair of peep-toe booties. Camilla Franks was the exception to the rule, providing a welcomed break from the darkness in one of her signature floating prints.

On the runway David Jones displayed the best of the new season from its stable of designers. The looks were as inspiring as they were varied.
